gizmodo.com Accord­ing to The Cre­ators Project, the Smith­son­ian has over 137 mil­lion pieces in its col­lec­tion, but only enough room to dis­play about 2 per­cent of them. So it’s turn­ing to 3D print­ing to share as much as it can. Work­ing with a… Cool project. It would be better if the 3D scans were made available to the public to see and print themselves.

Open Source SLS Printer Design Released →
Today I was pleasantly surprised by another addition to the collection of open source 3D printer designs. Andreas Bastian – an engineering student at Swarthmore College – designed and build a SLS 3D printer, and made the design available as open source. It uses an infrared laser, and sinters a wax and carbon mixture for use in lost-wax casting.
